Wayne Pan

I am passionate about the potential for futures thinking to help shape a better future for all of us. My work revolves around envisioning just, equitable, systems-based solutions to intractable global issues. Having spent the last decade in the field, I am hyper-conscious of some of the blind spots that futures suffers from - not least of which is the importance of de-centering traditional Western perspectives and that humility is a fundamental attitude for anyone working on the future. Having lived and worked in six countries across three continents, I have a deep and embedded appreciation for cultural perspectives and local contexts.

Q&A

What are the problems you are interested in solving?

I believe we are at the start of what will be a period of intense transition and transformation as our global systems, built on extraction, exploitation, and excess, all begin to break and crumble. New systems will fill the voids created - but the question for all of us to answer (and affect) is what will those new systems look like? What values will underpin them? What and who will they serve?

What areas of work can people contact you for?

Exploring the infinite possibilities of the future and framing potential solutions, opportunities, risks, and pitfalls - these are the fundamental tools that futures thinking can bring to bear as we begin to COLLECTIVELY envision new systems that are just, equitable, and restorative by design.

Where can people find you?
